Intro

The first thing you'll need to do before you play Dungeons & Treasures is SIGN UP to be a member at the game site!

Be sure to use a valid email address, select a user name that you can live with for a while (you're planning on interacting with other players in the site forum, in contests, on battle teams, right?).

Once you're signed up properly, you'll log into the game (keep your password/user name combination to yourself - don't give it out to anyone) and be at your member dashboard which will look similar to my screen-shot below:

Navigation links are along the left-hand side-bar and also along the left, you'll be able to see your DT Currency balance, gold balance, experience points, the state of strength your current weapon is in, etc. Lower, not shown in this screenshot, you'll find MORE MINI-GAMES and access links to on-site extras.

BE AWARE THAT flash needs to be enabled because contest details, prizes and other notifications are on an alert system. You'll often see a small icon picture (shown below) of a shield with crossed swords appear randomly along the top of the screen or by your "Messages" button along the left. It is a GOOD IDEA not to click too quickly through dungeons. Click and then scan the header area and left sidebar area often with your eyes - to give the site software time to send you alerts and so that you'll actually notice the alerts. THIS IMAGE WILL BE BLINKING so it will not be too difficult to see it - you'll notice it as long as you're not clicking rapidly to travel through dungeons. There is a sort of mega/meta-game going on when you're logged in - you don't get to control it but the game will send you messages about soldiers being trained and attributed to you, battles won or lost and attributed to your character. The game play that you control may influence the mega-game (if you're doing well, you will be invited into battle contests and teams in a separate area - these are like QUESTS).

When you log in as a beginner - and at the very beginning of each month afterward, you will have 0 Experience/stats, only your bare hands (no weapon) and will start each month with 500 gold pieces. You'll have to navigate around your first dungeon - UNTIL EXPERIENCE LVL 2 - very carefully and avoid being hurt in battles while you hunt for treasure and valuable items. Once you reach Exp level 2, you can buy a weapon. Often, as soon as I reach the level where I'll be allowed to purchase a weapon, I exit the dungeon. If you exit a dungeon, you can return later, so don't worry about getting locked out.

You should go to the Markets or Shops to purchase a healing potion and as strong a weapon as you can get for 500 gold or maybe more gold if you have collected some in a dungeon already. I often just head into the dungeon right away and rely on a high chance of finding a healing potion in the first dungeon. If I run into more items laying around than monsters lurking around, I usually do fine but if I run into many monsters from the start, I usually lose 1 life while fighting with my hands/without a weapon. Sometimes fighting with your hands for a while works, sometimes it doesn't, and you can/should play a more safe strategy if you wish - by purchasing healing potions and a weapon before you ever head too far into any dungeons. There is a very slim chance you will also find a weapon for free in the first few dungeons (first few days) but I have never been lucky enough to find a weapon waiting for me to pick up and use like this early in the month/game.

If you wait until close to the end of the first day, sometimes players who are helpful and kind will put some potions on sale in the Player's Market area for a reduced cost. Again, this is a strategy that only works SOMETIMES but not all the time. You don't have to rely on this and shouldn't COUNT ON THIS. I'm just mentioning this because I have seen some players GIVE AWAY potions for free just to help other players out on the beginning days of the month. Once I noticed this behavior in the markets, I vowed to do the same same whenever I have extra items I don't need. Don't absolutely count on always finding free and cheap items but do be aware that many players enjoy the game and try to help other players out.

IF YOU DO NOT NAVIGATE ALL THE WAY THROUGH A DUNGEON EACH DAY DO NOT WORRY ABOUT LOSING THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE because the dungeon will be available for you to explore the next day (or at any time so long as you still have a "life" available). Don't rush through while you're a beginner and make mistakes you don't have to - unless of course, it is your learning style to do so (actually, this is MY learning style but it is full of hard knocks and if you don't have to - don't proceed in this way).

You will have 3 "lives" at the beginning of the game each day. Each of your lives can take 5 major "HITS" from an enemy before you expire/die on the 6th HIT. You'll lose 1 (one) life if you are damaged in the dungeons 6 times by one enemy OR combined enemies OR by hurting yourself while trying to open a locked box.

You can heal yourself before you ever get too many hits against you - IF you carry enough HEALING POTIONS into the dungeon with you.

For the beginning days of the month, often people are battling in dungeons with very low (or no) weapon strength and will "die" in the game. Don't worry even if you lose all 3 lives in one day. This will be a bummer but when the timer counts into the next 24 hour period of time, you'll start the next day again with 3 lives. If you die in the game, you'll be transported to the entrance of the dungeon this happened in. When this happens, you'll automatically be started with a fresh life. If you have some gold coins at this point in the game, maybe you should EXIT the dungeon (are the monsters in there too powerful for you to beat with current weapons and spells?), go to the SHOPS or MARKETS and purchase a better weapon, some healing spells or battle-type spells.  **Note: battle spells will not work until level 10 but collect them as you traipse through the corridors of dungeons and then you won't need to purchase as many later if you're inclined toward using magic in battles.

These are just the basics at Dungeons and Treasures.

When the game re-sets or when you first join, you should be attempting to level up, acquire gold and experience, pick up all items you find laying around in dungeons, battle monsters, and stay alive! About a week into the month, you'll develop strategies to capture some of those monsters in the dungeons instead of just fighting with them but for the first few days of each month, the monsters in the beginner dungeons don't have much SALE value at the markets. For about the first week, you will just concentrate on a few of the things mentioned on this page and will progress in the game quite as fairly as anyone else even if you are a beginner.

Once you have acquired a few weapons, some armor, spells and other items - and once you are well on your way to gaining some experience points, you'll have some time to look around more and play some side-games, participate in some additional features of the Dungeons and Treasures game site.
